LAFATA was founded in 2024 by Designer and Creative Director Jenny La Fata, a Long Island native who moved to NYC to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Drawing inspiration from street a n d surf cultures through the lens of a sophisticated, globe-trotting New Yorker, Jenny quickly made her mark in the fashion industry.
Her career began as a design assistant to Betsey Johnson, where she learned the value of hard work in building a successful brand. In 1995, she teamed up with Dublin-born designer Daryl K, playing a crucial role in transforming a small business into an international success and establishing herself as a key figure in the advanced contemporary fashion space.
Jenny further sharpened her skills with roles at Katayone Adeli and Jill Stuart and in 2001, she joined Ralph Lauren, where she led the women's Polo Jeans RTW division under the mentorship of R13 founder Chris Leba. There, she revitalized the brand with a modern, cool-girl edge while preserving its heritage.
In 2003, Jenny co-founded the contemporary brand LaROK, where her blend of modern and classic designs gained widespread attention. As a classically trained designer with expertise in tailoring and denim, Jenny La Fata is dedicated to creating pieces that are both timeless and contemporary.
